    Hi,

Got in my hdi this morning turned the key and it didn't start - all the dashboard lights were really dim, but then after a few seconds the lights all got brighter but still wouldnt start.

There was a clicking noise that sounded like it was coming from outside the cabin and the time / temp display was making funny line patterns instead of the time.

does this sound like a flat battery or something worse...

    thanks Paul

Flat battery, especially if it's still the factory-fitted one.

The lines on the clock were displayed because all power was lost then recovered.

Just recharge yours for now, then look for a spare another time. I was using a transit battery in my old dturbo! Haha!
